A better base metal than most of the men's chain market. Still a plated product — judge it against other vermeil, not against solid gold.
The men's chain market is full of plated stainless and plated brass sold with gold-sounding names. Jaxxon's position is that its base is 925 sterling silver, with gold applied as vermeil on top — a materially better starting point.
Which is why the two questions that dominate searches are whether it is real gold and whether it tarnishes. Both have the same answer, and it is not a simple yes.
What Jaxxon actually makes
Cuban, rope and franco chains, matching bracelets, a smaller pendant range and a growing rings and cuffs line. Sizing is presented in widths and lengths the way a chain buyer expects.
There is a solid gold tier for buyers who want it, priced accordingly.
Is Jaxxon real gold?
The mainline is gold vermeil: a thick gold layer over 925 sterling silver. That is real gold on the surface and real precious metal underneath, but it is not a solid gold chain.
The distinction matters most over years of wear. When vermeil wears at high-friction points, what shows through is sterling silver — which is far better than exposed brass, but is still visible as a colour change.
Durability and tarnish
Sterling silver tarnishes. As long as the vermeil is intact it is sealed from air, but once wear starts at clasp and link contact points, darkening can follow. Wiping the chain after wear and keeping it out of pools does most of the work.
The brand's warranty programme is a real part of the value proposition here — check what it covers on the specific piece before buying.

Check priceCommon questions about Jaxxon
- Is Jaxxon real gold?
- The mainline is gold vermeil — real gold over 925 sterling silver. There is a separate solid gold range at higher prices.
- Does Jaxxon jewelry tarnish?
- The vermeil layer protects the silver underneath while intact. Once it wears at friction points, the exposed sterling can darken.
- Can you shower with a Jaxxon chain?
- It is not recommended. Soap, chlorine and salt water all accelerate wear on the gold layer.
- Is Jaxxon better than a stainless steel chain?
- Different trade-off. Sterling with vermeil feels heavier and is a precious metal; plated stainless is more resistant to water but has no metal value.
